VARADEPALYA
(Andhra Pradesh): He is here to help the suffering millions - those
ailing from diseases, family problems and cursed relationships, and
also those in search of their Creator.
Call him
a spiritual phenomenon or an avatar in flesh and blood, 53-year-old
Chennai-based Vijay Kumar with his wife Padmavathi Devi, revered by
millions as Kalki Bhagwan and Amma Bhagwan, have one mission on this
planet.
The ‘Kalki
movement’ aims to “transform the world into the Golden Age of another
10,000 years, an age bereft of mental turmoil, an age full of perpetual
bliss and happiness”.
Most of
his devotees have never met Kalki in person, but Kalki’s claims are
humble. “I am not Kalki (the tenth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, according
to Hindu mythology) nor do 1 take pride in being called a godman.”
I am only
an ordinary being with some healing powers, living with my family in
Chennai city. My devotees see God in me because they are transformed
by my presence and realise my capacity, I am not embarrassed anymore
to be called and respected as God,” he says.
“My
job is to listen. The movement is based on mystic experiences. If I
am touched by my devotee’s prayers, I have powers to solve problems
by chanting mantras, whether you see me or not. I hate to be called
a godman as most of them have a jail history,” he says most
unassumingly. The ‘Bhagwan’ and his followers say he has brought
back many a dead to life, and cured people ailing from AIDS and cancer.
The ‘Bhagwan’s’
message to the world: “The world is in its last phase of religious
existence, which now sees religious fundamentalism at its peak. As growing
disgust towards religion eventually dies down, a new spirituality will
emerge, when India will embark on a ride towards prosperity. The signs
will begin to show in the year 2007/2008.”
