Indian Skeptic, the monthly journal of Indian CSICOP was
brought out by Basava Premanand until his last days. Publication of Indian Skeptic was stopped for a while when Premanand
fell seriously ill (he passed away on 4th October 2009), thus
snapping perhaps the only link connecting various rationalist groups
and activists in our vast country.
During the 7th National Conference of Federation of Indian
Rationalist Associations (FIRA), it was suggested, by Prof Narendra
Nayak, that Bangalore Skeptic should thenceforth be published as Indian Skeptic and this was supported by other delegates of the
conference. Accordingly, from its 25th
issue onwards, Bangalore Skeptic was brought out as Indian Skeptic. However, from May 2010, the publication of Indian Skeptic has been discontinued. Instead, newer media
on the web, such as www.nirmukta.com and discussion groups on Facebook are being
fully used to communicate the ideas and work of FIRA. Prof. Narendra Nayak, in his capacity as the
President of FIRA is regularly writing on these media. Some of his
writings are posted here as well.
