Mysore:
Clear thinking and persistence were the hallmark of rationalist and
Kannada writer K Ramadas, who died here on Tuesday. He was 66. He is
survived by his wife and a daughter.
Born at
a village near Sagar taluk of Shimoga district, progressive thinking
and a rationalistic outlook came naturally to him, as the taluk and
the district gave rise to several revolutionary writers, thinkers and
politicians. Whenever an issue smacked of superstition, orthodox culture
and suppression of people’s rights, Ramadas was in the forefront of
the struggle.

played a key role in the Gokak movement (in the ’80s) which sought
