RANCHI: The Chanho
police on Friday implicated five persons and arrested one of them in
connection with a case related to semi-naked parading of a woman. The
arrest was made a day after the incident occurred at Chora village under
Chanho police station limits of Ranchi district on Thursday.
Confirming
this, Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police, RK Mullick said that one
of the five persons accused in Thursday’s incident was arrested. “We
are confident, we will be able to arrest the other accused shortly,”
said Mr Mullick.
Meanwhile,
according to information available here,an eerie silence continues to
prevail in and around Chora village on the following day of the incident.
“A raid is on to nab those responsible for the incident,” police
said.
It may be mentioned
here that a 50 - year - old woman Sukhari Nayak was on Thursday forcibly
taken to Chora village on the charge of ensnaring four children into
trap and engaging them in brick kiln in Uttar Pradesh. Villagers told
police while three children returned home to tell that Sukhari Nayak
took them to Uttar Pradesh, one Balchand Bhagat never came back. The
irate villagers later stripped her sari in public and paraded her naked
through the main thoroughfare of the village. She was beaten up after
she pleaded ignorance about the whereabouts of Balchand. Police found
Sukhari Nayak tied to a tree and rescued her in the evening.
