BANGALORE: Members
of the Central Council of Homeopathy on Saturday criticised homeopathy
doctors for practising other forms of medicine like allopathic medicine.
Participating
in the seminar on ‘Predictive Homeopathy’ organised by the Homeopathic
Medical Association of India (HMAl), Dr Ramjee Singh, Vice-President,
Central Council of Homeopathy said a large number homeopathy doctors
in the country, especially in states like Maharashtra, after training
in homeopathy were practising other forms of medicine like allopathy
as they were offered better money.
"A few
doctors are insecure about practising homeopathy which is unfortunate
as huge amounts of investments go into training them and if they
shift to practising other forms of medicine then it is a loss", he said.
He added
that all was not well in a few Homeopathy Colleges in Karnataka
as the facilities offered were not of good quality.
"We
have already asked for the closure of a couple of colleges
in Karnataka where infrastructure facilities are sub-standard.
Infact in one of the college there
are no toilets which is very unfortunate," he added.
Dr Lalith
Verma, Secretary, Central Council of Homeopathy said the mushrooming
sub-standard colleges was forcing students to go abroad for pursuing
homeopathy courses.
"Despite
there being 185 colleges offering undergraduate courses and 32 colleges
offering postgraduate degrees in homeopathy, a few students are going
abroad to pursue homeopathy courses which is mainly because of the sub-standard facilities,”
he added.
