SHILLONG, UNI: Thousands
of people thronged a Presbyterian Church in Meghalaya on Wednesday after
rumours broke out of seeing the “‘face of Jesus’” on the cross
and strange light surrounding the cross inside the church.
People
irrespective of religion, caste and creed were seen queuing up outside
the Church in Malki locality here, since Tuesday night to witness the
phenomena and of- fered prayers. Believers of Presbyterian Church called
this phenomenon as a “good omen”.

GUWAHATl: After seawater
tasted “sweet” in Maharashtra and idols of Lord Ganesha “drank”
milk in Uttar Pradesh, now a cross in a church in Meghalaya has started
to “glow” with an “ilInminated image” of Jesus Christ.
A Presbyterian Church at Malki in Shillong
has of late been receiving a steady stream of devotees ever since word spread in
and around the picturesque hill-station that a cross on the pulpit is emitting a
halo around it and radiating the image of Lord Jesus.
The “glowing”
cross and recent reports of several students “fainting and behaving
abnormally” in a number of schools in the state’s Khasi and
Jaintia Hills have prompted the church-leaders to conclude that all these
were indications of a revival or religious reawakening in the
region. “There was a similar revival in Khasi, Jaintia and Mizo
Hills (now Mizoram) in 1906. And 100 years later, the Holy Spirit
is here in the region to reawaken people,” said Rev Laldawngliana,
an administrative secretary, of the General Assembly of Presbyterian
Church of India (PCI).
Students
faint
Unconfirmed
reports of students fainting, chanting hymns, weeping and having convulsions
were pouring in from across the state over the past few weeks. Rev
Laldawngliana said that such strange incidents had been occurring ever
since the Presbyterian Church held the centenary revival service at
Mairang in the state’s West Khasi Hills district on April 23 last.
“Not only Christians, but
students belonging to other faiths also experienced the divine touch of Holy
Spirit. This is indeed a divine phenomenon,” he said.
