THE Indian
Medical Association (IMA) on Friday strongly condemned statements of
Baba Ramdev and allegation levelled by him against the Allopathy doctors
and dared him to cure the cancer patients. The IMA also urged the
Yoga icon to have a gainful discussion with their experts in cancer
cure claims made by him.
In a press
conference Dr Ashok Adhao, National President Elect of IMA while expressing
full respect and due regards towards Ramdev Baba for popularising
Yoga, expressed shock and disbelief over the outlandish claims made
by the Yoga Guru to cure cancer patients.
As per
government rules and regulation treatment of patients can not be done
by an unqualified doctors and IMA requests the concerned authority to
check Baba’ s qualification and credentials before allowing him to
advice patients and prescribe medicines, he stated.
The IMA
has appealed citizens not to go in for populist propaganda, analyse
the reality and decide accordingly.
Registering
protest against the allegedly derogatory remarks against the doctors
practising modern science by Ramdev Baba describing them as propagators
of diseases and encashing on patients’ illness, the IMA office-bearers
pointed out that diseases are not brought in to this world by the doctors.
Doctors
sincerely try to cure and control the diseases and also try to alleviate
the sufferings of the patients. Modem medicine never believes
in making tall claims about the cure of cancer or AIDS because we know
lot of efforts have gone in studying these diseases. The research is
going on to find the remedy for cancer and vaccine for preventing AIDS,
Dr Adhao pointed out.
Yoga
and pranayam are very well accepted and it is an important component
of treatment for modifying the life style which is so necessary
to prevent the various diseases.
Every
pathy has its advantages, disadvantages and limitations. One needs to
keep mutual respect for each others’ pathy and should work within
the limitations, Dr Adhao opined.
Baba claims
that he has cure for everything then why many people dying everyday
from heart attack,cancer and AIDS and if he is sincere he should visit
Sant Tukdoj Cancer Hospital which is flooded with cancer patients and
offer his magical treatment free of charge which perhaps he will not
do, the IMA claimed.
Charging
Baba Ramdev with crossing the limits, the IMA claimed that Baba was
taking undue advantage of over responding people. Two years ago when
we asked for laboratory reports of the cancer suffering patients who
were cured taking his medicine we did not get any response from Baba
why? asked Dr Milind Naik, former President, IMA. “We the allopathic
doctors never propagate our system,” he added.
