AKHIL
Bharatiya Andha Shraddha Nirmulan Samiti (ABANS) activists exposed Swami
Kishor Shastri, who claimed himself as the country’s famous astrologer,
for exploiting superstitious citizens in the Second Capital.

Sonegaon
Police arrested Swami Kishor Shastri and one of his disciples Gulab
Joshi after conducting a search operation in his room at Hotel Pride
on Sunday. Two gold necklaces, rings, mangalsutras, lemons,“tabijs”
(lockets), Rs 51,750/- cash, a cheque
of Rs 20 lakh, and four cellphones were seized from Swami Shatri’s
room.
After coming from Kashi, Swami Kishor Shastri
was putting up in room No.110 at Hotel Pride on Wardha Road. Swami Shastri had given advertisements in
local newspapers claiming that he can solve the problem of men and women
by seeing their faces and photograph without
horoscope.
It was
also mentioned in the advertisement that he would give Positive results
regarding personal problems, business, higher education, love, marriage,
divorce, politics, remarriage etc. Names of the persons and their problems
would be kept secret by him, the advertisement mentioned. After reading
the advertisement, Vishnu Goenka, a prominent businessman
from, Cotton Market area, approached Swami Shastri.
Goenka was suffering from blood pressure and diabetes.
The agents
of the Swami were taking Rs. 500/- each to allow them to meet him in
his room. After Goenka told him his, problem, Swami Claimed that he
was a devotee of goddess Durga and can treat him.
Swami
told Goenka to bring Rs 26,700/- for performing the rituals,
Goenka was asked to write his name on a lemon. Then his palm impression
was taken on a piece of paper.
Swami
then told Goenka that he would die within a month if the rituals were
not performed by him. He then assured Goenka that he would give a “tabij”(locket)
to him. Swami Shastri then took Rs 2000/-
as advance from him.
Goenka
came out of the room and immediately alerted ABANS activists Umesh Choube
and Harish Deshmukh. Choube along with other activists including Uttam
Sulke, Prakash Hargode, Sunil Wanjari and Duryodhan Nimbarte, took Goenka
to the police.
On the
basis of Goenka’s complaint,Police Inspector Ramchandra Katole,
PSI Tukaram Koyande, V.M.Mahulkar, and ASI Dashrath conducted search
at Swami Shastri’s room.
Cops arrested
the self-styled God man Swami Shastri and his disciple Joshi.
An offence
under Sections 4,5 and 7 of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act, 1954 has
been registered against them at Sonegaon Police Station.
